Christmustache

Happy Holidays to everyone from the Heymans. I hope you had as much fun during Christmas as Candace and I. We enjoyed spending time with both Candace's family and mine. Candace's best friend Chelsea got married so we were able to party with them, too. We feel extremely blessed having spent time with loved ones during the season of remembering our Savior's birth.

Have you made your 2009 goals yet? If not, make a goal to do it. Here are some of mine:

- No traffic tickets in '09 (is it possible?)
- Less TV watching on Sunday
- workout regularly
- Get an internship by Valentine's Day
- Shave my mustache

Yes, I have a mustache. Its really more of a seasonal Christmustache. I'm actually participating in a competition with other MBA students to see who can grow the best stache over the Holiday Break. The competition won't know what hit them! Below is a chronological look at the growth of the most awesome, filthy, stylish red mustache ever. But first, let us tip our hats to some great mustaches:

Day 1, at Candace's work party in Salt Lake

Umm, Day 10 or so. I had to grow a beard in order to hide my would-be mustache from my anti-stache wife. In this pic, we're on our way to our family fave Mexican restaurant Guedo's.

Dang I look good, but Candace and Bubby got me beat.

This is my "I lub you" face for Candace.

Day 17, I just keep getting hotter.

CHANDLER IS NOT JUST A CITY, ITS A WAY OF LIFE.

Cbug isnt a fan of my mustache, but I like her with one.

This is my used car salesman look.

My old friend Ryan Nichols was in town and he invited us to go shooting with him. Here's Bug taking aim.

We had an array of targets ranging from a baseball, to cantoloupe, to an old printer.

Justin and I.

Here's to 2009, from Curtis, Candace, and our mustache.

BYU MBA Christmas parrrrty

Early this December the MBA students had a Christmas party. My family's favorite, pianist Jon Schmidt, played for a while. It was pretty fun to get together with my friends and their wives. So my class has 150 students divided into 3 sections. Each section has 10 groups of 5. Here are four members of my group and their significant other: Chris and Courtney Brasher, Jesse Carman and his girlfriend Eungen, me, Cbug, Derek and his wife Rebecca.

Schmidty

Dmoney and his wife. They are our eating out friends.

Cbug BEGGED me to take Homecoming poses in front of the Christmas decorations.

Ooooooooh! This one is a gem!

Always classic.

AZ, AZ,...Where Art Thou?

How would you like to wake up to your car looking like this? YOU WOULDN'T! That's a lot of snow to scrape off my windows and windshield!

Its definitely going to be a WHITE Christmas.

Here's our place. We're a little apartment above our neighbor's garage. 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom.

Our front door is under the little ledge on the side of our house. Its brand new so its clean. Candace and I like it, and we're only a 60 second walk from church.

1 Month Later and Still Married!

First let me say "thank you" to all the friends and family who posted to our previous blog entry. Its so fun to hear from everyone. Candace and I apologize that we haven't had time to respond to everyone, but we certainly read what you post on our blog and read your blog, too. Also, thank you so much to all those who participated in our wedding one way or another. Cbug and I feel overwhelmed with your kindness.

So its been a while since our last blog post and we've been overdue for a new posting. Its discouraging because in my family my sister Jen and sister in law Jenny have these killer blogs and we can't seem to keep up with the "Joneses", or in this case the Rays and the Heymans. Regardless, I'm going to throw up some photos and get you updated in the short time I have this morning.

Before I do, let me give you the latest on us:

- MY WIFE GOT A JOB IN SLC! WE WILL SOON BE RICH enough to maybe afford cable tv. She will be working as an interior designer in downtown salt lake for http://www.edaarch.com/

- I got a new calling, assistant exec. clerk/secretary. Its a hybrid calling. This is my 3rd time in this calling. May I quote the famous Robert Kempton: "My wife and I were talking yesterday and we're trying to figure out how a guy like you got called to that even once! That calling is for guys who are way into excel spreadsheets, palm pilots, and technology. If someone told me you got called to that I would think its a fluke. If they told me you got called twice I wouldnt believe them. But 3x? Whats going on?" I'm not sure, but I'm happy to serve wherever whenever however.

- Thankfully, school has slowed a bit. My schedule was killing me during the first half of this semester.

- We're staying put in Provo for Tday, but we'll be in AZ for a week for Christmas. Probably the 18th-27th. Let's get together!

- I'm looking for a MBA level marketing internship this summer with a large company. Got any ideas or connections? It doesn't have to be in Utah.

Now for pictures:

Candace and I packed up some hot chocolate and snacks for a drive through Hobble Creek Canyon in Springville.

Did you know Cbug chopped her hair off? Women do that to men as soon as they marry. It looks good tho. Pics of her are soon to come. This is what she had me print off for her to take to the hair stylist:

Pics are back from the wedding photographer!

Photos, Phoenix, Fall, Favorites and Fun Forever!

Photos
Let's start with first things first. I got the link to the wedding photos from the photographer. It's http://www.printroom.com/ghome.asp?shopperid=KCDLEHU0GSEC9J1L41AQ5VEQ5L226CJ0&domain_name=hurwitzphotography&group_id=83. The password is heyman. We've been looking at them and it's been super fun to see pics of everyone! Check them out!

Oh... and don't worry about ordering them from his website... I'll be getting a dvd of all the images and am happy to share. Make a list of the ones you want and I'll email you them when I can or I'll send you a cd!

Phoenix (and Chandler...)
Okay so I miss home terribly. It's definitely been difficult moving to a new place when I've been in AZ all my life! I miss my family, my friends, my job and just the familiarity of it all. I think part of it is that, frankly, I just need to get a life here. I've been looking for a job with no luck so far (really great on your self esteem... I highly recommend it) and am lowering my expectations dramatically. I just need to do something! And no, that something isn't going to be babies yet... (Sorry Diane, I know you want more grandbabies sooner than later!) I did join the MBASA (spouse association) which will keep me a little busier... I'm soooo BYU! I also went to my first BYU game Saturday and loved it! I appreciated the differences from ASU (not getting beer spilled on you) and it was a fun game! There were even guys in the next section with jack-o-lanterns on their heads dancing around! I wish I had video of it. Hilarious. Go Cougars!

Other happier thoughts... I got a calling yesterday in my new ward! Meet the new Secretary to the Young Women's Presidency! I'm super super excited about it! One of the counselors in my bishopric came by last night to extend the calling. He was telling me about the girls in my ward and it sounds like I can relate to some of the difficult situations they're in. I felt strongly it was inspired and I can't wait to serve. I'm so happy about it. Oh and he said they have something in the works for Curtis... stay posted!

Fall
I'm falling in love with fall! I'm enamored with the seasonal changes so far (ask me again in a few months). The leaves are all bright beautiful colors and the weather is a roller coaster. It was 70 today but supposed to be 35 on Halloween. Brrrr. It's been fun to bust out the winter clothes I never got to wear in Phoenix. I even made sugar cookies in the shape of fall leaves. We also made some skull and crossbone ones. Yummy!

Fun Forever
When you marry Curtis Heyman you know you're in for a life filled with fun, laughter (even when it's just him laughing at you), and excitement. Let me give you a few examples:

1. Curtis loves to get me riled up (almost to the point of angry) and then laugh his butt off at me. Last week we were driving in my car and I went to roll my window down... there was a not so friendly little beast, a wasp (or "giant bee" as I called it in my panicked state), trying to crawl in my window. I quickly rolled it right back up as fast as I could being scared of these little buggers. Cur picked up on my fear and proceeded to torment me by rolling my window up and down up and down, laughing hysterically as I freaked out thinking he was going to fly in and sting me! He thinks he's soooo funny. Look at this guy... who wouldn't be scared!

2. This one is short but funny.... or at least it is now. We were laying in bed and I had just started to fall asleep when Curtis purposely ripped the covers right off me for no apparent reason. I was instantly mad and he was instantly laughing and laughing. The madder I got the more he laughed. Oh and he wouldn't give them back. I didn't think it was funny. I hate being cold.

3. Now here's one where I was laughing harder than he was. A week and a half ago Cur stepped on a nail in our backyard. I found out (thank you to Diane) that he hadn't had a tetanus shot in 14 years and he was due. I tried and tried to convince him that he needed to go get one with no success. He came home almost a week later and had gotten the shots! I asked what had prompted him to do it and he said he had started to get some neck cramps and was having trouble swallowing. He looked up tetanus online and his symptoms matched! He freaked out and went straight to the clinic and got the shots thinking he had tetanus. Turns out he just has a canker sore in the back of his throat. At least he's in the clear now!

Those are just a few of my favorites. My life is never boring with this guy around!

We did it!!!!

This is what forever looks like!!! We couldn't be happier!!!

What a special day. We feel tremendously blessed in so many ways. What an amazing blessing to know that this is truly forever!

We had an absolute blast at the reception. We owe huge thanks to all our family and friends who helped pull it all together in just over 8 weeks!! We're surrounded by such talented people!

And thanks to Andy for lending the d-buggy!!! What a fiasco! He ran out of gas on the way. Not to mention it was freezing cold that night! Thanks Andy!
