Its just that I'm really busy this summer cruising my new ride. You know how it is.

a mover & a shaker.

Our little man is on the move!  He has been cruising like a champ for a couple weeks and now he's so determined to walk he is definitely keeping me on my toes.  He is into EVERYTHING.  Not to mention he has either inherited my clumsy gene or Curtis's daring gene.  He walks faster than he knows how (with a walker) and he cruises from one thing to another far outside of his reach... which means he falls. A lot.  Reed is turning into such a BOY.  I can't believe he is almost ONE.  It's seriously blowing my mind.  Time is just flying past me lately.  Check out his new teeth!

Reed is obsessed with the piano.  He will stand up on his tippy toes for so long to bang on those keys.  I can't wait until he's old enough to take lessons.
In other news my mom is ENGAGED!!!  She came to town this weekend with her fiance, Kelly.  He is super nice and we couldn't be more excited for them.  Here he is playing the piano with Roo Bear. 

Also, I threw a baby shower for this lovely lady, Tracy.  It was so much fun and also good motivation for me to get my house put together.

company vacation!!

Few times have I been able to say that I love what I do for work and who I work with. Such is the case with Crexendo. I consult businesses on how to grow traffic and sales through their website. I find it rewarding to have so much exposure to different types of businesses and to be a major factor in their growth. I know Candace appreciates my job, too, as my hours are reasonable and I almost always come home in a good mood!

Recently, my company held a sales competition for a trip to Newport Beach, CA and Disneyland....and you guessed it, I won the trip! While we had a tough time leaving RooBear behind for 4 days, we knew he was in GREAT hands with Grandma Heyman. I think being apart was harder on us than him! Below is some of the fun we had:

We spend 3 nights on my CEO's yacht in Newport Harbor. I could not believe how fancy and nice it is! Very clean and comfortable. I felt like I was in a classy hotel, not a boat.


The weather cleared up for our arrival. We enjoyed lots of sunshine and fresh ocean air.


Part of what made the trip so enjoyable was the company. I got to spend time with my boss, the CEO, the President, and other executives outside of the office. Fishing, golfing, and dining with them allowed them to see another side of me, get to know Candace, and allow us to have fun with them. While cruising to the island and back, we saw scores of dolphins jumping our wake.



JR, another sales rep, and I hopped on the sea-doo to chase dolphins. Can you believe this thing goes 65mph? 65mph on water feels like 95mph on land.


Somehow the executives talked JR and I into jumping off the top of the yacht into the 55 degree water. I was a pansy about it, but eventually jumped. Fun memory.

I made sure we got out some rods in the harbor to do some fishing. We all caught something. Here's my CEO and President getting into the action:


We toured the island, played miniature golf, and got ice cream.


As if this wasn't already enough, my company also paid for us to tour Disneyland and California Adventures. The weather was gorgeous and we had a great time with my boss, JR, and his wife. Unfortunately, we didn't bring the camera to Disneyland so we don't have pictures. By the way, how about Dland's churros? I ate at least 4.

On the way over to Disneyland, we checked out Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo Business School, which is named after my CEO Steve Mihaylo. We had a good time snapping photos of him next to his statue and would you believe that his glasses fit perfectly on the statue?


Have you ever heard of "Club 33"? It's Walt Disney's old residence turned into a super exclusive restaurant. While its located within Disneyland gates, few know about it because you have to be one of the 300 members to gain access. The sign below is the only hint of what lies behind an unsuspecting door.


Once inside, you take an old elevator with a gate-door to the dining area.


The food- AMAZING! Thank you Crexendo and Steve!


Another highlight of the trip was visiting with my Heyman cousins. Many of them hadn't spent time with Candace. We had a great breakfast together and I got to meet Heather's fiance'. Lisa, thanks for having us over!


Eventually, the sun set on our magical trip and we headed back to AZ. It was great to spend some one on one time with Candace. She certainly shined as a classy woman and someone I was proud to have with me in front of my Executives.


Thank you Crexendo, especially Steve, Doug, and Clint! As a "thank you", Candace created a Guest Log book with pictures from our trip for Steve to keep on his yacht.

ten months, toofers & other stuff.

So far we've loved living in our little house, in our little neighborhood.  We're very close to Curtis's office and pretty much anything else we need.  We love our ward and exploring our new community.  Here's a pic of our first family hike a few weeks ago.  After hiking for an hour or so we determined we need to get a legit hiking backpack (any tips on picking one out?).  Reed weighs over 24 pounds and I'm pretty sure he added an extra sweat factor to Curbo's workout.  It's fun to be able to walk out the door and onto a trail head a few blocks away.

Can you believe Reed is 10 months?  I feel like a broken record but he really is growing so fast.  I love being a mom more than I ever thought I would.  I'm pretty sure it has something to do with what a happy, loving boy he is.

Here are 10 things we love about our 10-month-old Roo Bear:

1.  His jack-o-lantern smile.  The above photo is a little out of date but I had to post one of him with his first tooth.  He now has one other on bottom (with a space in between) and one on top above his first tooth.  Funny boy.
2. Reed waves hi and bye-bye on request.
3. He gives big, wide mouthed, slobbery kisses.
4. He still sleeps and naps like a champ (mama loves this most!).
5. Reed is an all-around happy baby.  He rarely fusses even when he's sick or teething.
6. He army crawls like nobody's business.
7. Reed recently entered into the cruising club.  He likes our low coffee table.
8. He loves outdoors and I have a feeling he'll be a little froggy in our pool with me this summer.
9. He gets soooo excited when Dada gets home from work.  Seriously ear-to-ear grins and lots of bouncing up and down.
10. Reed is a total ham.  He makes the cutest wide-grin squinty-eyed face when he knows he's being cute.

Other stuff we've been up to:

• My mama came through town for a few days on her way back from Samoa.  It was fun to spend time with her.  I know she wishes she had more time to play with Roo.  If you haven't heard about why my mom was in Samoa for two months, check it out here.
• We took a trip to Catalina!  Curtis works so hard at his job and he won a sales competition last year that earned us a 4 day trip on his CEO's yacht.  It was an absolute blast.  Post on that to come...
• We've spent a lot of time getting our house in order.  Between the pool, yard, and other random things, we've been busy worker bees around here.  I'm anxious to get our home to the point of maintenance instead of having so many little projects.  Although I might be doomed to always have little projects.  I think it's in my genes.  Mom?  I'm talking to you.
• Park days, new church callings, playing baby games & being silly to get our little audience of one to giggle, watching American Idol (how fun is Steven Tyler?!), walks, making new friends, swinging in swings, and mourning the soon-to-be loss of Ray & Diane to Argentina.

good news travels fast.

We have a lot of good news to share with you, BloggerLand! Some of you already know that my parents have accepted, at the request of the President of the LDS Church, the responsibility of Mission President over the Resistencia, Argentina mission!!

What this means:

This is bittersweet for my family. My Dad is quitting a job he loves and my mom is leaving her dreamhouse and grandkids to live in a rural part of Argentina for 3 years. They will manage 150 or so missionaries, helping to build the locals' faith in Jesus Christ. My family was ecstatic to learn that of all the missions in Argentina, they will be in Resistencia. My brother Chris served there 10 years ago! Also, my Dad was a missionary in another part of Argentina in the 1970s. My parents leave for Argentina in July.

We are going to miss my parents like crazzzy. Living with my Mom, Dad, and little brother Taylor over the last 8 months has been better than we could've imagined. Unlike other people's experience living with parents, ours was drama-less and our time together increased our appreciation for one another. I think Sunday and Monday nights were our favorite. Candace and my Mother spoiled us with great meals on Sundays and we usually spent the majority of both nights chatting with each other and my sibblings via webcam. I particularly appreciate the way my family has taken to Candace. There is no doubt in her mind that she fits in with the rest of us!

Seeing my parents make this decision to leave the comforts of home and give so much of themselves has caused me to reflect. What would I do if the same were asked of me? Its a tough question to answer! I'm grateful that my parents love the Lord and the people of Argentina more than themselves. It won't be easy without you here, Mom and Dad, and you'll be in our daily prayers and thoughts. Don't cry Jen and Bub!!! (I know you are!)

One last thing I'd like to mention on this topic and then I'll move on. While we were waiting to hear from the Church where in the world my parents would be serving, I'd find myself imagining what it was going to be like when my parents opened their mission call (it comes in the form of a letter). I thought back to when I received my mission call as a 19 year old. I remember the excitement of calling friends and family over to watch as I read a letter requesting I serve in Campinas, Brazil.

While my Mom opened and read the letter aloud, the rest of us sat silent listening intently. Most of my sibblings watched via webcam. I was so focused on the anxiety surrounding my parents' mission call that I was caught off guard by the unmistakeable presence of the Holy Spirit. My anxiety quickly turned to feelings of peace, unity, and love that came from a source other than myself. I look back at that moment thankful for the witness I received that my parents were following God's will.

- we bought a house!! Party at my place!!!

We live in Ahwatukee (SE Phoenix), a short drive to work and to family in Chandler and Phoenix. (More pics & info coming soon)

-I'm on an indoor soccer team. I LOOOVE to compete and this is a great outlet for my competitiveness. Its great exercise, except I recently tried a stint as goalie and ever since my team has insisted I stay goalie. This means I'm either the worst player on the team, since goalie is the equivalent of sticking the uncoordinated, goofy kid in right field....OR...I'm an amazing goalie. I'm going to go with the latter.

-Taylor (aka Chief, Mug, Tay-luh, Unkie, Skunkie, and Tayluh-mmmooooooooon) got in to BYU completing a Heyman run of 5 kids in a row! I'm excited for him to have the time of his life as a freshmen and I'm expecting him to make the BYU Lacrosse team.

-Cbug and I head to Disneyland and Catalina Island soon. This is an "all expenses paid trip" for being my company's top performer. Shoutout to Crexendo Web Marketing!

so far behind...

I have a lot of blogging to catch up on. A lot has happened for our family in 2011! One big event: WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! We are SO excited. We're still unpacking but I'll eventually post some pics. Reedy Roo Bear is still as cute as ever and we're loving being a little family in our very own home. Can you believe Reed has grown from this little guy into this big guy?  Boy do we love him.

Although being homeowners is terrific, we miss having Curtis's parents and brother, Taylor, around.  They were so wonderful to let us live with them for the last 7 months.  It was a huge blessing and I know Reed isn't the only one who misses Papa, Grandma and Unkie time.  Thank goodness for Sunday dinners!

Since I'm so behind on blogging, I'm not going to overwhelm myself by trying to make this post layout perfectly, or include every little update about our Roo Bear.  I'll simply leave you with some recent photos and a video of Reed's latest trick.
